I am the owner of a personal training studio in Houston, TX. I want to open up my facility to quality personal trainers and I need to know what would be a fair split. If anyone out there has any experience in this matter please pass on your input. From what I can tell… The biggest factor is whether they are bringing in "new" clients to your gym. If they are increasing your "membership" revenue, you should decrease the % of training fees to 5-20%. I have seen gyms where a new trainer comes in, brings 20-30 new clients, the clients pay the "gym membership fee" and the trainers hourly. The gym owner get's greedy, resulting in the trainer leaving, and the 20-30 clients with them. This seems to be an ongoing problem around the country. The gym owner needs to focus on the fact that co-existence is mutually beneficial.

Does anybody have an idea of how much a base membership is for LA Fitness on Staten Island? Also, is this a co-ed gym? Thanks, Steve. What I found out was – Although I live in IL, I can tell you that they are always running deals. . I got in at $29. 99/month before the gym ever opened. . They claim the regular rate is $49. 99 a month with a $250 initiation fee. Yet, I always see them running specials. It is co-ed. Not sure what gyms you've there, but I find it's MUCH nicer than Ballys, but not as nice as Lifetime. I would like if they had a steam room and towel service.

I'm frustrated with fitness centers that seem to weasel out of giving me membership and initiation fees over the phone. Instead, I have to go to facility and sit with one of those sales reps who'll try to give me a tour and schmooze me. It's the foot-in-the-door game that doesn't work on me so it wastes my time and the sales rep's energy/effort. Is there a way to get around it, or a way to argue that legally, they have to give me the price quote upon my request? Thanks in advance. After speaking to others on the web, I found the answer. It is a good thing for you to see what your getting, but I agree it is a ploy to strong arm you. I would find the place you like and name drop about the other gyms. Since it is done on commision, I would wait until the end of the month and at the end of the day so you have an advantage because they need to make quotas. Same for buying a car. You should ask people what they are paying as they enter and leave the gym to get a feel for the cost.
